JMIN is the newest member of the international hip hop and R&B label H1GHR Music.
On August 2, the label hinted via social media that they would be revealing a new addition to the roster. The post featured a cryptic photo of the artist’s elementary school yearbook. Some fans speculated that the latest H1GHR Music member is rapper Beenzino (who’s currently signed under local label Beasts And Natives Alike), which JMIN jokingly referred to in a comment on the official announcement post yesterday, August 5.
Co-founder Jay Park welcomed the rapper in an Instagram post saying, “welcome to the fam u tall ass young dude.”

In an interview with Korean outlet eyesmag, JMIN says the partnership happened organically. “Joining H1GHR Music was a coincidence. I first visited Korea out of curiosity about Korean labels. At that time, I had a desire to continue my music career in America. But after that, when I returned to Korea, Jay Park followed my account.”
He went on, “Our relationship continued thanks to Instagram, and my friend connected me so that I could meet President Park Jae-beom [Jay Park]. Then, as you can see, I joined H1GHR Music. Timing and connections and making important decisions. I think all these circumstances and factors worked together so well that ultimately led me to this place.”
US-born JMIN has been active in the Los Angeles scene. JMIN gained wider recognition through his songs like “Spaceship” and “Saucin,” which were featured on the popular American hip hop YouTube channel, No Jumper. He has also worked with Korean hip hop artists CAMO and KISSTA in the past, which helped him gain ground in Korea as well.
Alongside the H1GHR Music announcement, JMIN said on the eyesmag interview that a new EP is on the way. Style-wise, it will be a combination of trap, EDM, pop, and rock influence.
